The Indigo XLR takes the floating combination shield design principles used so effectively on the Indigo RCA and applies them to the Indigo XLR with equally impressive results. The noise floor is vanishingly low and the subtlest dynamic information is accurately transferred over an extremely wide bandwidth.
In the right system, the improvements this cable will bring to tonality, detail, dynamics and separation of individual instruments and voices whilst maintaining an incredibly coherent and musically involving sound, will astonish. The Indigo RCA, quite justifiably has a reputation for bringing outstanding performance improvements to the system is it fitted to. The Indigo XLR more than maintains this reputation.

'Sensational high-end (£10k minimum) system upgrade. Trust us, it's worth it!' What HiFi 5 Stars October 2006
'if you have a high-end system you need quality cables, and this is definitely special. Sure, a grand for a 'bit of wire' is steep, but the indigo mainlined a sonic boost into the veins of our reference system giving amazing detail, dynamics, pace, and punch. This is a sensational high-end system cable upgrade' What HiFi Ultimate Guide Nov 2006
The most striking feature of the new Chord Indigo RCA from Chord Cables, is the unique machined acrylic plug casing. More than just a beautiful object, the plug casing is made from specially chosen acrylic plastic that has truly outstanding vibration damping properties. Precision machined to an exacting tolerance from bonded solid acrylic block and diamond polished, the plug casing shrouds an ultra low mass, silver-plated earth connection and is toleranced to damp any resonances.
This is an area that has been important to Chord for some time but the tonal and timing improvements that this has brought about surprised even Chord. The plug has a tapered strain relief profile which allows us to avoid any direct clamping pressure on the cable itself, crucial to obtaining the best possible performance.
The cable has been produced to an extremely high tolerance and optimised for analogue signal transmission. A low capacitance, high velocity design with extremely low high-frequency attenuation making it ideal for accurate wide bandwidth signal transfer. The shielding system is similar to the Signature but all components have been silver-plated. The central conductor is comprised of specially chosen, stranded, silver-plated oxygen-free copper conductors and is surrounded by a Teflon dielectric.
The Indigo cable is a fully balanced configuration and has been assembled in a way that optimises send/return signal transfer. It is constructed using a direct connected return and signal path. All signal path components are silver-plated and all the connections have been made with a high silver content, lead-free solder. Because of the plug, the impedance is completely stable along the length of the cable. The shield, which has been based on the ones used in Signature interconnects and speaker cable, has been left fully floating.
The Indigo RCA is Chord's most advanced interconnect yet. The cable was designed in response to the extended bandwidth speakers that are becoming so common and its ability to transfer a signal completely accurately is going to surprise a lot of people.
Chord Indigo - technical info
The most striking feature of the Chord Indigo is the beautiful acrylic plug casing. Each one is hand machined to an exacting tolerance and polished to a mirror finish.
Acrylic was chosen for its ability to control resonances around the RCA/phono plug contact areas and in comparisons with conventional RCA/phono plugs, the combination of low mass contact area and the resonance damping acrylic plug casing produced a markedly cleaner and more detailed sound. The multi-stranded , silver-plated, and Teflon insulated signal conductor and return path allows the cable to transmit signal information over an extremely wide bandwidth.
The acrylic plug casing helps to reduce still further the already extremely low noise floor, resulting in dazzling clarity across the entire frequency range. The Indigo's ability to transmit micro-dynamic information so accurately at frequency extremes, coupled with its exceptional interference and noise rejection capabilities, makes the Chord Indigo an ideal connection for anyone wishing to fully explore the potential performance that SACD, DVD audio, contemporary CD players and high end stand alone phono stages are capable of producing.
